This website was built at my own personal expenses,
including labor and annual financial costs to preserve
the website. I am not asking for any donations to
maintain the existence of the website. I will continue to
donate this website at my own expenses in the spirit of
Webster High School and The Class Of 1958. However, at my demise or if at some point I should become incapacitated, there needs to be a plan in place to keep the website functional if desired by the alumni. I will be considering some ideas of my own.
While being aware that there is always room for
improvement, I am also aware that criticism is always a
prevalent option. However, even with these conditions
and options, I certainly hope and believe that there will
be some who will appreciate this project just for the idea
and the efforts of KEEPING THE LEGACY ALIVE.
I'm appreciative of any new ideas, suggestions, correc-
tions, and updated information whenever and wherever
needed. The CHAT LINE is not LIVE for CHAT, but is there to accept input of photos and updates, etc.
I am one of the strongest advocates of KEEPING THE
LEGACY ALIVE, simply because I have no college
Alma Mater. I was too poor to go to college and therefore I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force immediately
after the summer break of my high school graduation in 1958 and served until I completed a 21 year military career before retiring. As a poor kid on welfare with no electric lights, no inside toilet, no running water, and no telephone until I was 12 years old, I'm grateful to Webster High School as the foundation of my successful multiple careers. This foundation was the tool that took this little poor black kid off welfare and around the world to heights of managing Telecommunications exclusively for THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and AIR FORCE ONE as the NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN CHARGE (NCOIC) of the NATIONAL EMERGENCY AIRBORNE COMMAND POST (NEACP) Telecommunications Center. Because of my previous management experience, I was hand picked to fill this position although I had two stripes less than Senior Master Sergeant rank
requirement for this position. I was the FIRST BLACK
person to hold this position and the second overall
person for this special duty assignment which was a newly created position (under PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER) three years prior to my occupancy. I was awarded the AIR FORCE COMMENDATION MEDAL (one of the highest awards of the U.S.Air Force) for meritorious service during this mission. This opportunity led to management positions in Private Industry for the following communications companies: Telenet, BBN, GTE, Sprint, Genuity, and AOL for the following 21 years of my career in Private Industry.
Thanks to God for Webster High School and the wonderful staff of professionals who cared enough to BE the BEST at ensuring that their students GOT the best educational training of any and ALL black students in the land. Although Webster High School is now defunct because of desegregation, it is my pleasure to be proud of this historically black high school. And with the greatest
of pride, I take great pleasure in being a strong advocate
