Anchor 1

Sept 12, 1940 - Sept 26, 2021

The Class Of 1958 dedicates this WALL OF FAME in honor our class brother, COACH ROBERT "TONY" RHODES, for his outstanding contributions to the LEGACY of  our class and the LEGACY of  WEBSTER HIGH SCHOOL.   As classmates we knew that TONY would excel and make worthy contributions to society and particularly to the sports world.   However, his accomplishments and special recognitions reached heights of excellence and FAME beyond our dreams and imaginations.
Immediately after COACH RHODES passed away, Huntington High School, Shreveport, LA (where he last coached) informed the family of their decision to name the football field in his honor.  That ceremony took place in January of  2022 (See VIDEO of  the Unveiling Ceremony - BUTTONS #4  & #5 below).  ALSO, I have been informed that the city of Shreveport will name the street where he lived in his honor.  I will update when that takes place.

Famously known as
DEE DEE FORD
WRECIA HOLLOWAY (married name)  - Although a recording artist on her own, she gained notoriety after teaming up and becoming DON GARDNER & DEE DEE FORD.  They became most famous for their #1 hit in 1962 with the song " I NEED YOUR LOVING".  She wrote and composed many songs and wrote Bettye LaVette's big hit song "LET ME DOWN EASY".                             PERSONAL NOTE by website builder - I was fortunate to catch DEE DEE
in a live performance of their #1 hit song in 1962 at The HOWARD THEATER, Washington, D.C., and went back stage.  My wife, in-arms baby daughter and I had her over to our house next day for dinner.  It was a special treat and a wonderful WEBSTER HIGH SCHOOL Reunion for us.
